How careful slab prep became our whole approach
I learned this trade as another flooring owner's right hand. I ran the prep crews and got sent back to the floors that didn't hold. Nearly every one of those failures came back to the concrete underneath, not the coating on top. So when I started Lawrence Epoxy Floors and Concrete here in Lawrence in 2017, I built it around careful slab prep, and that's still what we're best known for.
Most of our calls come from homeowners with garages and basements and from businesses with shop and warehouse floors. Winter here brings snow, and salt gets tracked onto garage slabs, so a coating needs sound concrete under it to last. I come out, look at the floor and write the estimate myself, because I want you to understand what you're paying for before you say yes. These are the things you'll notice from the first walk-through to the last coat, because they're how I'd want my own garage or shop floor handled.
Your slab gets checked first
Before we pick a coating, I check the concrete for moisture, cracks, old sealer and weak spots, because that's where most floors fail. If the slab isn't ready, I'll tell you so before we talk about colors or finishes.
Straight answers, as often as you ask
Ask about prep, cure times or why one coating costs more than another as many times as you need. You'll get a plain answer and the reason behind it before you sign anything.
A smaller fix when it makes more sense
Sometimes a spot repair or a sealer is all a floor needs. When that's true, we'll say so instead of selling you a bigger job you don't need.
Someone watching for the usual mistakes
I spent years running another owner's jobs, so I know where coating work goes wrong, like rushed grinding or coating over damp concrete. Our own crew does the prep and the install, and I check the work along the way.

When your job needs a permit, we file for it with the city's building office and tell you where it stands, and if it's unclear, we check with that office before we start.
